Keeping you safe and healthy during the coronavirus outbreak

Find out what kencko is doing right now to ensure the safety and wellbeing of customers, staff and suppliers - and keep those smoothies coming.

If you’re reading this, chances are your daily habits have changed a lot recently. With much of the world on lockdown as we fight together to contain the global coronavirus outbreak, food availability and nutrition are in the spotlight more than ever. We wanted to update you on what kencko is doing to keep you safely supplied with fruits and veggies during this challenging time.

Is my kencko safe to use?

Good news: there is no evidence that the COVID-19 virus is passed on through food. The novel coronavirus needs a live host to survive and propagate. Per the latest FDA guidance, there is also no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with the transmission of COVID-19, and there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in the United States associated with imported goods.

If you have heard rumors to suggest otherwise, remember that misinformation often thrives in uncertain times. Good nourishment - in particular a varied, balanced diet rich in plant foods - supports a healthy immune system, so please enjoy your food with confidence that you’re investing in your wellbeing. (For more on immune support and diet, read this article.)

Has kencko changed its working practices?

All our staff who can do so have switched to working from home, in accordance with the guidance on social distancing. Packing and shipping your boxes still needs to be done in person, and our operations team is hard at work fulfilling orders in the warehouse. To keep them (and you) safe and well, we are sticking closely to the guidelines issued by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization. That means:

  • Continuing our usual stringent compliance with good manufacturing practices, health, hygiene, and food safety protocols

  • Monitoring our team closely, and reinforcing the personal and workplace hygiene and sanitation policies we already have in place

  • Incorporating additional distancing measures and more frequent cleaning and disinfecting procedures

Will I still get my deliveries?

Now more than ever, you need the immune-supporting power of fruit and vegetables in your life! Produce that is shelf-stable (like kencko smoothies) has a key role to play in helping you to avoid unnecessary trips to the grocery store, while still maintaining your intake of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Unfortunately, some shipping delays are inevitable at this time, given the strain that the postal system is under. But we are working hard to ensure that you get your fruits and veggies as soon as possible. Here’s what we’re doing so far:

  • Bringing more elements of production in house, including a brand new packing machine that allows us to guarantee a secure supply of smoothies

  • Liaising closely with our shipping partners to keep deliveries moving

  • Investigating shipping delays and keeping customers informed

We’re here for you

We remain absolutely committed to doing everything we can to put the health and safety of the kencko community first while working towards our mission of empowering you to reach five-a-day, every day.

In the meantime, please stay home, wash your hands - and eat (or drink) your fruits and veggies!
